Beskrivelse af Headquarters Nights
Headquarters Nights is a non-fiction book written by Vernon Kellogg, an American zoologist and pacifist who served as a member of the Commission for Relief in Belgium during World War I. The book is a first-hand account of Kellogg's experiences and conversations during his time spent at the headquarters of the German Army in France and Belgium. Kellogg provides detailed descriptions of the daily routines and activities of the German soldiers, as well as their attitudes towards the war and their enemies. He also includes conversations he had with high-ranking German officials, including General von Bissing and Crown Prince Wilhelm. Throughout the book, Kellogg reflects on the horrors of war and the devastating impact it has on both soldiers and civilians. Headquarters Nights offers a unique perspective on World War I, providing readers with an intimate look into the lives of the enemy and the human cost of war.1917. Contents: Biographical Note; Foreword by Theodore Roosevelt; The Headquarters of the Great General Staff; Von Bissing's Headquarters; and A Belgian Record. One of the most graphic pictures of the German attitude, the attitude which has rendered this war inevitable, is contained in this book. It is a convincing, and an evidently truthful, exposition of the shocking, the unspeakably dreadful moral and intellectual perversion of character which makes Germany at present a menace to the whole civilized world. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
