Beskrivelse af Gulliver's Travels
Gulliver's Travels is a satirical novel written by Jonathan Swift in 1726. The book tells the story of Lemuel Gulliver, a surgeon and sea captain who embarks on a series of four voyages to strange and fantastical lands. In his first voyage, Gulliver is shipwrecked on the island of Lilliput, where he discovers a race of tiny people who are only six inches tall. In his second voyage, he visits Brobdingnag, where he encounters giants who are over sixty feet tall. In his third voyage, he travels to the floating island of Laputa, where he meets a society of intellectuals who are so absorbed in their own thoughts that they are completely disconnected from reality. In his fourth and final voyage, Gulliver visits the land of the Houyhnhnms, a race of intelligent horses who live in harmony with nature.Throughout his travels, Gulliver encounters a variety of strange and often absurd customs and practices, which Swift uses to satirize various aspects of human society. The book is a commentary on the political and social issues of Swift's time, including corruption, greed, and the abuse of power.Gulliver's Travels is considered a classic of English literature and has been adapted into numerous films, TV shows, and stage productions. The moonlight, pouring its unclouded radiance over open space, failed to throw a beauty not their own on those sluggish waters. Broad and muddy, their stealthy current flowed onward to the sea, without a rock to diversify, without a bubble to break, the sullen surface. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
