Growing Up in Little Italy

Bag om Growing Up in Little Italy

GROWING UP IN LITTLE ITALY is Bill Anderson's fourth book. This represents his story of growing up in the small town of Krebs, Oklahoma, settled mainly by Italian immigrants, who came to the booming coal mining industry at the turn of the century. His grandfather and father were coal miners. The book was inspired by his grandchildren, especially Hailee, who has expressed an intense interest in her ancestry. The book is not only for family, but also anyone having an interest in some history of Krebs, the coal mining industry here, and the history of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, as well as some history of the ancient St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, located in North McAlester. The ancient history of Italian Restaurants in Krebs is also depicted. The book is filled with 271 pages of photos and legend, some humorous, some sad. Other books by Bill include ISHI, published in 2015, STORY IN STONE, published in 2013, and HOW TO FIND INDIAN ARTIFACTS, published in in 2014. Bill Anderson was born in 1944 to parents Chester and Mary Anderson, and grew up in the little Southeastern Oklahoma town of Krebs. Today, he continues to live there with his wife Connie, and their two cats, Leo and Garfield.
