Grey to Black

"Grey to Black" is a winner of the Royal Palm Literary Awards. While Private Investigator Sam Trooper (Troop) mourns the death of his partner, Vaughn Bradbury, his instincts as a former Boston Police detective tell him that the death was not accidental. Evidence mounts to establish foul play as Troop collaborates with Boston Police Detective Ryan Brady to track down Vaughn's killer. Working behind the scenes is a trio of women-Kate, Alexa and Vaughn's widow, Jennifer. They comb the office files in search of former cases with ties to suspects who would want Vaughn dead. What the women discover leads Troop and Ryan to an ex-con, who turns up dead just when they are closing in on him. Meanwhile, Troop is committed to carry on the business he and Vaughn built. A simple divorce case involves high-society characters intertwined with the investigation of Vaughn's murder. When a key person of interest disappears, Troop uncovers secrets underlying adultery. Solving the case demonstrates the distinction in lies. White lies are innocent. Black lies are a ticket straight to Hell. Grey lies reside in between ... until they slip the divide into the realm of black lies.
