Th e global food crisis is not just another crisis, but its implications in terms of human
cost and human capability failures, human rights and human freedom go beyond
the arena of cognizable dimensions. Th e book is basically focused on the genesis,
magnitude, impact and policy alternatives for the present food crisis. It brings under
its analytic umbrella the problems and perspectives that accompany the crisis..
Th e ramifi cation of the crisis has been analyzed with respect to its impact on poverty,

GFCR (Harvard), is a Visiting Professor at Leeds College of
Business Management and Technology, Leeds (UK) and formerly,
the Director of Institute of Management and Technology, Govt.
of Kerala, Punnapra (Kerala). He received his education from
Australia, India, UK and USA and has taught in many universities
in India and abroad including University of Science, Malaysia and
Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus. He had a stint as a Visiting Professor at Zhejiang Gongshang University, China. He
has written a large number of books published by multinational publishers including
Routledge, Palgrave-Macmillan (London and New York), Nova Science(New York),
Wisdom House, Longman and Ashgate (London) and contributed a large number of
research papers in refereed professional journals of India, USA, UK, Cyprus, Malaysia, Singapore, Italy, Bangladesh, Sweden, Korea, the Netherlands and Philippines. He has provided short-term consultancy to various organizations including the UGC, Govt. of Malaysia and the UNDP. He is the recipient of the Emerald Award (UK) for academic excellence (2006) and is the Chief Editor of Journal of Human Development.
