Beskrivelse af Georgia Scenes
Georgia Scenes is a collection of humorous sketches and stories written by Augustus Baldwin Longstreet, originally published in 1835. The book is set in rural Georgia and features a cast of colorful characters, including farmers, preachers, and politicians. Each chapter is a self-contained story, often satirizing the social and cultural norms of the time. The book is known for its use of dialect and colloquial language, which adds to its charm and authenticity. Georgia Scenes is considered a classic of Southern literature and an important work in the development of American humor. The young ladies had generally collected before any of the young men appeared. It was not long, however, before a large number of both sexes were assembled, and they adjourned to the ballroom . But for the snapping of a fiddle-string, the young people would have been engaged in the amusement of the day in less than three minutes from the time they entered the house. Here were no formal introductions to be given, no drawing for places or partners, no parade of managers, no ceremonies. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
