In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, another high-profile terrorist plot is in the works, this time on the west coast of the United States. Devin McLaren, former counter-terrorist agent and current security specialist, is drawn in because of his past, and old enemies: his former boss with the NSA and a mysterious olive-skinned man. All three have connections to Geneva in the bad old days. On the worst of those days, McLaren killed three men to avenge the loss of his lover, something he has never lived down professionally or personally, and which still haunts him today.
Joined by an ex-CIA agent, a current FBI agent, and a retired mercenary from Africa, McLaren starts a private war against the terrorists, stonewalled at every turn by the American security establishment. Soon, it's a race to see whether the United States suffers another major terrorism disaster or finally wins one for the home team.
