French Painting 1100-1830

Between popular masterpieces and rather little known artists, this book unfolds nine centuries of the history of French painting. It contains more than 450 works showing medieval frescoes, Gothic illuminations, Renaissance portraits, neoclassical or romantic paintings, but also works of academic art. Cabanel or Gérôme have their place here, just like Nicolas Poussin, Boucher, Ingres or Delacroix.
