Beskrivelse af Forraadt (1892)
Forraadt is a novel written by Norwegian author Amalie Skram and published in 1892. The book tells the story of a young woman named Elisabeth Altenburg who is forced into a loveless marriage with a wealthy businessman named Johan Nagel. Elisabeth's life becomes a living nightmare as she is subjected to emotional and physical abuse by her husband. Despite her efforts to escape, she is trapped in the marriage and eventually turns to infidelity as a means of finding some semblance of happiness. However, her actions have dire consequences and she is ultimately left alone and destitute. The novel is a powerful commentary on the oppressive nature of marriage and the limitations placed on women in society. It is considered one of Skram's most significant works and a classic of Norwegian literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
