Beskrivelse af For One And The World (1890)
For One And The World is a novel written by Matilda Betham-Edwards and published in 1890. The story follows the life of a young woman named Hester who is forced to leave her home in the English countryside and move to London to live with her wealthy aunt. Hester is initially overwhelmed by the city and the lifestyle of her aunt's social circle, but she soon finds herself drawn to the world of literature and art. She becomes involved in the suffragette movement and begins to question the traditional roles of women in society. Along the way, Hester falls in love with a young artist named Cyril, but their relationship is threatened by the expectations of their respective social classes. The novel explores themes of gender, class, and the struggle for personal and artistic freedom in Victorian England. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
