Beskrivelse af Five Pieces Of Runic Poetry (1763)
Five Pieces of Runic Poetry is a book written by Thomas Percy and originally published in 1763. The book contains a collection of five medieval Norse poems, known as the ""Elder Futhark"" or ""Runic Poems"", which were written in the runic alphabet. These poems were discovered in various locations throughout Scandinavia and provide insight into the culture and beliefs of the Viking people. The poems included in the book are ""The Sigrdrfuml"", ""The Hvaml"", ""The Vlusp"", ""The Grmnisml"", and ""The Baldrs Draumar"". Each poem is presented in its original Old Norse language, as well as in a translated English version by Percy. In addition to the poems themselves, the book also includes an introduction by Percy that provides historical and cultural context for the poems, as well as a discussion of the runic alphabet and its use in Norse literature. The book is considered a valuable resource for scholars of Norse mythology and literature, as well as for anyone interested in the history and culture of the Viking people.Translated From The Islandic Language. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
