Beskrivelse af False Colors
False Colors: A Comedy, In Five Acts is a play written by Edward Morris and first published in 1793. The play is set in London and follows the story of two friends, Charles and Harry, who are both in love with the same woman, Sophia. However, Sophia's father, Sir Harcourt Courtly, has arranged for her to marry a wealthy and titled man, Sir Geoffrey Thornside. To win Sophia's heart, Charles and Harry concoct a plan to disguise themselves as each other, with Charles pretending to be Harry and Harry pretending to be Charles. This leads to a series of hilarious misunderstandings and mishaps, as they try to fool Sophia and her father. The play is a satire on the social conventions and expectations of the upper class in 18th century England, and pokes fun at the pretensions and follies of the aristocracy. It also explores themes of love, loyalty, and the lengths people will go to for the sake of their desires. Overall, False Colors: A Comedy, In Five Acts is an entertaining and humorous play that provides a glimpse into the world of Georgian England. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
