Beskrivelse af Falkner A Novel
""Falkner"" is a novel written by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, the author of the famous Gothic novel ""Frankenstein"". The story is set in Italy and follows the life of the protagonist, Falkner, who is a young man with a tragic past. Falkner is haunted by the guilt of his father's suicide and is determined to seek redemption. He meets a young girl named Elizabeth, who becomes his confidante and helps him to overcome his guilt. However, their relationship is threatened by the arrival of a mysterious stranger named Wolfstein, who seems to know Falkner's dark secrets. As the story unfolds, Falkner's past is revealed and his relationship with Elizabeth is put to the test. The novel explores themes of guilt, redemption, and the consequences of one's actions. It is a gripping tale of love, betrayal, and forgiveness that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very end.She did not only recall his conversation, but conjectured the causes of his sorrow, and felt deeply interested by the mystery that hung about him. So young and so unhappy! And he had been long so--he was more miserable when they saw him roving wildly among the Alsatian hills. What could it mean?--She strove to recollect what Miss Jervis mentioned at that time; she remembered only that he had no mother, and that his father was severe and unkind. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
