Ride with Yosuf and Suri across the Uzbekan steppes as they fight for the survival of their nomad tribes against invading Russians. Using no more than their wits and knowledge of the arid plains, they struggle to preserve a way of life threatened by a well armed enemy. The Russians, using thousands of Jews deported from their homes in Russia, create slave labor camps to construct prisons and a railroad. The nomads rescue many Jews who join their guerrilla band and fight for survival. Threaded into this age old story of suppression, are the fighting falcons, birds of enormous skill, who are trained to kill prey as the sport of warriors. Suri, a smart, daring woman, becomes a champion with her bird, Shahlo, and a symbol of all who fight for freedom. Follow this band of descendants of Genghis Khan as they battle a modern Russian army like warriors of old.
