EIT Resonances in All-Dielectric Nanostructures

EIT Resonances in All-Dielectric Nanostructuresaf Adnan Khan
Bag om EIT Resonances in All-Dielectric Nanostructures

Electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) is one of the most important phenomena in optical communication, which present new ways for the control of optical properties of the materials. This phenomenon is induced by the interference of the bright and dark modes, which creats a narrow transparency window, where extreme dispersion leads to slow light. The bright mode is directly excited by the incident light and its spectral feature is significantly broadened while the dark modes do not couple to incident light and is excited by bright mode. In this book, various dielectric nanostructures are investigated to exhibit EIT and Fano resonances. The proposed nanostructures include silicon holey nanoblock and dimer nanostructures. All these nanostructures display low loss EIT and Fano resonances, which usually crop up in the optical spectrum by the destructive interference of bright and dark modes. The EIT and Fano resonant modes also proved to provide high Q and near field enhancement values, which can be highly suitable for slow light and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) applications.
