Beskrivelse af Dust And Ashes
Dust and Ashes, also known as Demolished, is a novel written by the Polish author Henryk Sienkiewicz and originally published in 1899. The story takes place in Warsaw, Poland, during the late 19th century and follows the lives of two families: the Polanyckis and the Niemeyers. The Polanyckis are a wealthy and respected family, while the Niemeyers are poor and struggling. The novel explores the themes of social class, love, and betrayal. The Polanycki family is torn apart by a scandal involving their son, Wlodzimierz, who falls in love with a woman from a lower social class. Meanwhile, the Niemeyer family is struggling to survive in a city that is rapidly changing and modernizing. As the story unfolds, the lives of the two families become intertwined in unexpected ways. The novel also touches on the political and social issues of the time, including the struggle for Polish independence and the tension between the ruling class and the working class.Dust and Ashes is considered one of Sienkiewicz's most important works and is praised for its vivid portrayal of life in 19th century Poland. The novel has been translated into numerous languages and is still widely read and studied today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
