Dragoons, the Sound of Sabers For seven days and six nights in 1760, a terrible battle of attrition rolled across a once peaceful valley. The men locked in combat were from the famed Swedish "Yellow Regiment", the Austrian 6th corp. and a pitifully small battalion of Prussian Infantry and Cavalry. The Prussians defended the Castle Worth for king and country, becoming a flash point for war over the contested lands of Silesia. It was an enlightened age yet no quarter was given on either side. Educated men let loose the dogs of war creating a slaughterhouse where madness, murder and suicide wrapped itself in rabid loyalty to flag and honor. Good men on all sides fell by the hundreds, dropped into the abyss of history. There is no glory in war, only a hard truth told by the survivors. This is their story.
