Beskrivelse af Divided, a Civil War Novel
DIVIDED is a story of two individuals, one a black slave and the other a white man. Both were born on the same plantation in 1840. The black slave was to be the servant of the white man for life. At the age of ten, the two were separated. The black boy was sold at a slave auction and escaped from a Coffle. The black slave, Manuti, used the Underground Railroad to find freedom. When the Civil War broke out, Manuti joined the Union Army. The white man, Jaxson, attended the military academy the Ciidal and became an officer in the Confederate Army. The story is about these two men who find themselves on opposite sides of the warring armies. Throughout the war, Antietam, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Petersburg, and Richmond both had opportunities to kill the other, but through divine intervention, the bullets did not find their target. The story is about enmity, friendship, hate, love, and the pursuit of peace; the story ends with the climactic battle in Richmond, Virginia, the capital of the Confederacy.
