Meanwhile, Sophie's father, Baron von Faninal, has arranged for her to marry the boorish Baron Ochs, but Octavian intervenes and impersonates a servant to expose Ochs' true character and prevent the marriage. The opera is known for its complex characters, intricate plot, and lush musical score, which includes the famous waltz sequence.
