At the very edge of the Verdant Empire lies the small, agricultural world of Sulphur. It's a place people are either trying to escape from, or escape to. Basalt is one of those trying to stay off the radar. She's not to happy when she's suddenly appointed chief headhunter for the C.D.C. mass recruitment effort. Sulphur's C.D.C., Center of Demon Control, is infamous for it's incompetence, low hiring standards and the fact that nothing ever happens on Sulphur...until now.
