He's well liked by his friends. One day, a female line cook named Annie brutally murders a male line mate named Jesse. She disappears and the cops never find her. His restaurant is shut down, he loses everything, starts drinking and spirals out of control. He reads a book about a lawyer who walked across America and he decides to do that to find himself again. But, he also plans on hunting Annie down. So Thomas and his dog, Wink, set out across America on foot. On his 2nd day, Thomas is forced to kill a man in self defense. Rather than shocking him, it emboldens him. He has a similar situation a few weeks later which further empowers him. His journey across America to find Annie continues and Thomas finds himself in the middle of more unfortunate circumstances that require him to defend himself and others"--
