Dagger in the Heart

Bag om Dagger in the Heart

Based on personal annotations, this is a story of a Spanish Crypto-Jew who was forced to convert to Christianity in 1496 in Portugal. Because of his Jewish education, he was sought after to teach in the two major Universities of the time: Salamanca and Alcala de Henares. With two other Conversos, he prepared and edited the first Polyglot Bible in six volumes which paved the way to the dissemination of the Hebrew Bible and the Aramaic Targum among European Christians. This lead on the one hand to academic tolerance of the Renaissance and on the other -- to the proliferation of knowledge among the masses. It is the story of a courageous man who survived the Inquisition, together with his children who risked their life to escape from the Iberian Peninsula to live as free Jews. It is the story of a Moorish Prince who avenged the murder of his royal family after the fall of Granada. What people do to preserve their spirit, pride, and tenacity against all odds.
