Sarcoma is a cancer which originates in the transformed cells of mesenchymal origin. All malignant tumors consisting of the cartilage, cancellous bone, muscle, fat, hematopoietic or vascular tissues are sarcomas. Askin's tumor, malignant hemangioendothelioma, osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, malignant schwannoma, etc. are certain types of sarcomas. Surgery is commonly used in the treatment of sarcoma. Limb-sparing surgery is performed in extremity tumor cases. Along with surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy can also be used.
