Beskrivelse af Count Julian Gebir
Count Julian Gebir is a poetic narrative written by Walter Savage Landor. It tells the story of Count Julian, a Spanish nobleman who, after being betrayed by his wife and the King of Spain, seeks revenge by aiding the Muslim conquest of Spain in the 8th century. The poem is divided into three parts, each exploring different aspects of Julian's character and motivations. Part one describes Julian's love for his wife and his loyalty to the king, which is shattered when he discovers their affair. Part two depicts Julian's descent into madness and his decision to join forces with the Muslim invaders. Part three portrays Julian's remorse and eventual suicide. The poem is known for its beautiful language and vivid imagery, as well as its exploration of themes such as betrayal, revenge, and redemption.ABD. And art thou here, with women in thy train, Crouching to gain admittance to their lord, And mourning the unkindness of delay! This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
