Academic advising at universities is normally offered to the university's students or those applying for admission to a university-level degree program. In German & English-speaking countries, although these services are well established and available almost at every university and college, catering to the queries and problems current and prospective students might have. Unfortunately the impact of academic advisory services is not as well-known as the functions of academic advisory services, and their details and advantages are not as well researched. The lack of literature proves this fact. Students do not regard academic advisory services as a resource for addressing all possible concerns, and they do not trust academic advisory services. Interviews with the students show that they often feel as though their problems were trivial, and that this was their reason for not using academic advisory services. The function of academic advisory services is primarily to support students in difficult situations. However, this function is not clearly explained on their websites or in existing literature. To improve the effectiveness of advisory services, it is important to record the efficiency of academic advisory services and the expectations of future clients. This book is based on the PhD thesis work of Author.
