Beskrivelse af Churches Quarrel Espoused
""Churches Quarrel Espoused"" is a historical book written by John Wise, a Congregationalist minister from Massachusetts, in the late 17th century. The book deals with the ongoing conflict between the Congregationalist and Presbyterian churches in New England during this time period. Wise argues that the Congregationalist system, which emphasized local autonomy and individual conscience, was superior to the Presbyterian system, which relied on a centralized authority and strict adherence to doctrine. He also criticizes the Presbyterian church for its perceived lack of tolerance and its tendency towards authoritarianism. The book is considered an important work in the history of American religious thought and provides valuable insights into the theological and social debates of the time.1715. This work is a reply in satire to certain proposals made in answer to this question: What further steps are to be taken, that the Councils may have due constitution and efficacy in supporting, preserving and well-ordering the interest of the churches in this country? Written in Old English. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
