An effective protection of minors, whose migration status is not regulated, but whose numbers keep increasing, is an issue in all regions of the globe. Accordingly, one the main areas of reflection in the present volume are legal obligations applicable to children lacking proper documentation, citizenship or registration and thus being in an ¿irregular' situation. Specifically, this problem is examined from general human rights law perspective, Convention of the Rights of the Child, regional responses with special attention to African best practices and implementation of international standards on the national level.
