Of all human attainments, the art, which enables man to communicate his opinions, or his feelings, in the shape of oral, and written language, is the most precious in its value. This volume attempts not only to discern the regularity of structure in ancient and pure languages, but, in some degree, to ascertain the means by which they unfolded themselves into language, and supplied hints for their own visible shape, in other words, for the inventions of speech, as analyzed into a system.
