Bag om Cambridge Neighbors

""Cambridge Neighbors"" is a novel written by William Dean Howells, published in 1891. The story follows the lives of a group of neighbors living in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in the late 19th century. The main characters include the Reverend Mr. Sewell, a minister; his wife, Mary; and their daughter, Alice. Other characters include the wealthy widow Mrs. Sinclair, her daughter, Grace, and her son, Tom. The novel explores the relationships between these characters, as well as their interactions with other members of the community. The themes of the novel include social class, morality, and the changing values of American society during the late 19th century. Howells, a prominent literary figure of his time, was known for his realistic and detailed depictions of American life and society. ""Cambridge Neighbors"" is considered one of his most successful works. It was some years before the Boyesen summer, which was the fourth or fifth of our life in Cambridge, that I made the acquaintance of a man, very much my senior, who remains one of the vividest personalities in my recollection. I speak of him in this order perhaps because of an obscure association with Boyesen through their religious faith, which was also mine. But Henry James was incommensurably more Swedenborgian than either of us.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
