First published in 1939, this is the sequel to the Newbery-Award-winning novel Caddie Woodlawn.Fourteen tales relate the further adventures of ten-year-old Caddie and her six siblings living on the Wisconsin frontier in the 1860s.Wisconsin and farm life in the years just before the Civil War, and the story of Caddie who became a tomboy and who learned to plough instead of sew. There is plenty of incident, and there is also an authentic picture of life on a frontier farm when massacre was a real threat and when a livelihood, hardly earned, allowed for fun in natural outdoor things.
