Beskrivelse af By Canoe And Dog Train
By Canoe and Dog Train is a memoir written by Egerton Ryerson Young, a Canadian missionary and adventurer who spent many years living and working among Indigenous communities in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The book chronicles Young's travels through the Canadian wilderness, where he relied on traditional modes of transportation such as canoes and dog sleds to navigate the rugged terrain. Along the way, he encounters a wide range of people and cultures, including Indigenous hunters and trappers, European settlers, and other missionaries. Young's account offers a unique perspective on the history of Canada and the lives of its Indigenous peoples, as well as a thrilling adventure story filled with danger, excitement, and unexpected twists and turns. With vivid descriptions of the natural world and the people who inhabit it, By Canoe and Dog Train is a fascinating read for anyone interested in Canadian history, outdoor adventure, or cross-cultural exchange.Every Sunday evening I went over to the Fort, by canoe in summer, and dog-train in winter, and held service there. A little chapel had been specially fitted up for these evening services. Another service was also held in the church at the Mission by the Indians themselves. There were among them several who could preach very acceptable sermons, and others who, with a burning eloquence, could tell, like Paul, the story of their own conversion, and beseech others to be likewise reconciled to God.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
