Black Joe and Other Selected Stories

Within these pages will be found Western Writers of America Spur Award and Western Fictioneers Peacemaker Award winning stories by writer Rod Miller. The cast of characters includes cowboys, gamblers, gunfighters, swindlers, outlaws, lawmen, pioneers, miners, mules, horses, cattle, at least one sheep, and the occasional fair maiden. There is adventure, violence, hardship, struggle, and triumph. Mystery, conflict, suspense, and humor. Selected from among stories written over two decades are Miller's first short story, "Good Horses," published in 2000, and his most recent award winner (at this writing), "Black Joe." In between are stories published in various anthologies and periodicals, along with stories appearing here for the first time.
