Beskrivelse af Beyond The Pleasure Principle (1922)
Beyond the Pleasure Principle is a seminal work by the renowned psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, first published in 1922. In this book, Freud explores the concept of the death drive, a fundamental human instinct that he believed was responsible for much of our behavior, including aggression and self-destructive tendencies. Freud begins by discussing his earlier theories of the pleasure principle and the idea that all human behavior is driven by the desire for pleasure and the avoidance of pain. He then introduces the concept of the death drive, which he argues is a powerful force that compels us to seek out experiences that are not pleasurable, such as pain, danger, and even death. Throughout the book, Freud draws on a range of examples from his clinical practice, as well as from literature and mythology, to illustrate his ideas. He also explores the relationship between the death drive and other key concepts in psychoanalysis, such as the Oedipus complex and the unconscious mind. Beyond the Pleasure Principle is widely considered to be one of Freud's most important works, and it continues to be studied and debated by scholars and practitioners of psychoanalysis to this day. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
