Beskrivelse af Beyond the Horizon a Play in Three Acts
""Beyond the Horizon"" is a three-act play written by Eugene O'Neill. The play explores the lives of two brothers, Robert and Andrew Mayo, who are struggling to find their place in the world. Robert dreams of leaving his family's farm to become a sailor, while Andrew is content to stay and work the land. When Robert falls in love with Ruth, the daughter of a wealthy neighbor, he must choose between his dreams and his love for her. Meanwhile, Andrew becomes increasingly bitter and resentful, leading to a tragic climax. The play is a powerful exploration of family, love, and the struggle to find one's place in the world. It was first performed in 1920 and won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1921.1920. Generally agreed to be one of the most significant forces in the history of the American theater, O'Neill is a three-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize. Beyond the Horizon is the playwright's first full-length drama and winner of the Pulitzer Prize. It concerns two brothers in love with the same woman. Robert Mayo, who had dreamed of adventure beyond the horizon, remains behind and weds the lady in question, while his brother, Andrew, goes to sea. In the end, embittered and dying, Robert dreams of the escape that lies beyond the horizon.
