BEAUTY BEYOND THE WATERFALLS OF LIFE is a collection of poems that reflects the author’s stark reality. Against a backdrop comprising a maelstrom of pain, she unflinchingly catalogs myriad bleak and vile events. Populated by death, physical and sexual abuse, drug and alcohol addiction, suicide attempts, mental illness, and the oppressive nature of the American judicial system, this book details horrors that would have broken a weaker person. But the author perseveres, often turning to the Lord, leaning on Him for comfort and guidance in her otherwise hopeless world.
This is a book that reflects a real voice, shows the mental processes of persevering in the face of (or in spite of) life’s abuses. And it demonstrates the potent power of faith during times when that may be the only thing left . . . and the hardest thing to hold on to.

Lillie Mae Johnson was born July 4, 1968, in Lallie Kemp Hospital in Independence, Louisiana, to Robert and Lillie Mae Johnson. I have eight children and eight grandchildren. My husband is Robert White. I thank the almighty for my family. I hope beauty beyond the waterfalls of life helps those who read it. It doesn’t matter the length, width, depth, or extended trials of your life’s waterfalls; God is always there to carry you through the falls, currents, and forever-roaring fatal waves that are trying to take your very breath away if you focus on Him. Looking beyond the hurt, pain, and darkness that’s flowing continually, he is the hope in the beginning, during, and at the end of each waterfall. I don’t know what yours may be, but I pray you hold on to his hands and ride through with the inner peace only the Father can give.
