Beskrivelse af Atlantis
""Atlantis: The Antediluvian World"" is a non-fiction book written by Ignatius Donnelly. The book explores the idea of a lost continent called Atlantis, which was said to have existed before the great flood. Donnelly presents various theories and evidence to support the existence of Atlantis, including similarities in mythology and architecture across different cultures, as well as geological and archaeological findings. The book also discusses the potential impact of the destruction of Atlantis on the development of human civilization. First published in 1882, ""Atlantis: The Antediluvian World"" has since become a classic in the field of alternative history and has influenced many subsequent works on the subject. The most important book of its time (1882) on the subject of Atlantis. The author claims there once existed in the Atlantic Ocean, opposite the mouth of the Mediterranean Sea, a large island, which was the remnant of an Atlantic continent, and known to the ancient world as Atlantis, that Atlantis was the region where man first rose from a state of barbarism to civilization, that the gods and goddesses of the ancient Greeks, the Phoenicians, the Hindus, and the Scandinavians were simply the kings, queens, and heroes of Atlantis, that the mythologies of Egypt and Peru represented the original religion of Atlantis, which was sun-worship, etc., etc. Illustrated with photographs. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
