Athaliah

Athaliah: A Tragedy is a play written by French playwright Jean Racine. The play is based on the biblical story of Athaliah, a queen who ruled the kingdom of Judah and was known for her cruelty and idolatry. The play takes place in the temple of Jerusalem, where Athaliah has usurped the throne and is determined to wipe out the royal line of David. However, a young prince named Joash has been hidden away and is the last surviving member of the royal family.
