In 1943, eighteen-year-old George Anderson received his draft notice and entered the U.S. Army. This is the story of his experiences in basic training, his combat duty as a member of the Army's Field Artillery, and his participation in the post-war occupation of Japan, all told from the first-hand perspective of the soldier himself.
