Beskrivelse af Absalom And Achitophel
Absalom and Achitophel is a political allegory written by John Dryden in 1681. The poem tells the story of King David's son Absalom's rebellion against his father's rule, and the involvement of the cunning Achitophel in the plot. The poem is set in the context of the political turmoil of Restoration England, and is a thinly veiled critique of the political figures of the time. Dryden uses biblical imagery and metaphors to comment on the political situation of the day, and his work is considered a masterpiece of political satire. The poem is written in heroic couplets, and is notable for its use of language and its vivid characterizations. Absalom and Achitophel is a must-read for students of English literature and political history. Not So The Rest; For Several Mothers Bore To Godlike David, Several Sons Before. But Since Like Slaves His Bed They Did Ascend, No True Succession Could Their Seed Attend. Of All This Numerous Progeny Was None So Beautifull, So Brave As Absalon. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
