Beskrivelse af Ab Vrbe Condita, Book 9 (1910)
Ab Vrbe Condita, Book 9 is a historical book written by the ancient Roman historian Titus Livy. It is part of his larger work, Ab Urbe Condita, which chronicles the history of Rome from its legendary founding in 753 BC to the reign of the Emperor Augustus. Book 9 covers the period from 312-298 BC, a time of great political and military upheaval in Rome. It includes the story of the Samnite Wars, in which Rome fought against the Samnites, a powerful people who lived in the central Apennine Mountains. The book also covers the rise of the Roman general Appius Claudius Caecus, who played a major role in the Samnite Wars and was known for his engineering feats, including the construction of the Appian Way, one of the earliest and most important Roman roads. Throughout the book, Livy provides detailed accounts of battles, political intrigue, and the social and cultural life of ancient Rome. Ab Vrbe Condita, Book 9 is an important historical source for scholars and students of ancient Rome, and a fascinating read for anyone interested in the history of the ancient world. This Book Is In English. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
