Beskrivelse af A Vindication of the Rights of Men
Mary Wollstonecraft died young, giving birth to a daughter who in turn became famous as Mary Shelley. During her brief career, she wrote a history of the French Revolution, various novels, a travel narrative and a children's book - Original Stories From Real Life. Her best known work is A Vindication of the Rights of Woman (1792).
In Burke's Reflections on the Revolution in France (1790), he defended constitutional monarchy, the aristocracy, and the Church of England, In doing so he made an attack on Mary's friend, the Rev Richard Price.
She wrote this work in response, attacking the aristocracy and the despotic nature of British government, whilst advocating a democratic republic. It was the first shot in the Revolution Controversy pamphlet war in which Thomas Paine's Rights of Man (1792) became the rallying cry for reformers and radicals alike.
Published in support of the Working Class Movement Library in Salford - Manchester's twin city.
