Beskrivelse af A prescriptive approach of peace journalism and development
Nigeria has experienced an alarming rise in the manifestation of violent conflicts. These include ethnic, religious, political and other types of conflicts that have led to massive loss of lives, destructions and heightening of suspicion and hatred among the citizens. The central reality of our time is that the advent of globalisation and the revolution in information and technology have magnified both the creative and destructive potential of every individual, tribe and nation on our planet. Today, words, images, hate speech, fake news, and public statements are the weapons of choice of politicians and warmongers almost as lethal as arms and ammunition. Journalists who play a crucial role in shaping public understanding by providing information about conflict bear a heavy responsibility for what they write and broadcast. Therefore, this book on peace journalism practice and development will be useful to teachers in journalistic training institutions, media entrepreneurs, practicing and aspiring journalists as well as scholars and researchers with leaning in developing peace journalism theories and methods in the conflicted dominated society.
