Beskrivelse af A Narrative Of The Expedition To Botany Bay
""A Narrative of the Expedition to Botany Bay"" is a historical memoir written by Watkin Tench, a British marine officer who was part of the First Fleet that sailed to Australia in 1788. The book provides a detailed account of the journey from England to Botany Bay, the establishment of the first British settlement in Australia, and the interactions between the settlers and the indigenous people. Tench describes the harsh living conditions, the struggles of the settlers to adapt to the new environment, and the conflicts that arose between the British and the Aboriginal people. The book also includes observations on the flora and fauna of the region, as well as the natural resources that were available. ""A Narrative of the Expedition to Botany Bay"" is an important historical document that provides valuable insights into the early days of European settlement in Australia and the impact it had on the indigenous population. The marines and convicts having been previously embarked in the River, at Portsmouth, and Plymouth, the whole fleet destined for the expedition rendezvoused at the Mother Bank, on the 16th of March 1787, and remained there until the 13th of May following. In this period, excepting a slight appearance of contagion in one of the transports, the ships were universally healthy, and the prisoners in high spirits. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
