A Moment of Doubt

The sound of someone entering the room caused Hannah to hold her breath. She couldn’t see who it was because of the sheet that was covering her face and obscuring her vision. However the subtle sway of the once empty rocking chair now set in motion spoke volumes as she could only assume what he was thinking. Words weren’t enough, nor a hug for comfort, for it would only add to the mounting hurt and utter lack and feel of empty arms. We are often dealt hands in life.
