Beskrivelse af A Flame Of Fire
""A Flame of Fire"" is a historical novel written by Joseph Hocking and published in 1903. The story follows the adventures of three Englishmen who find themselves in Spain during the time of the Great Armada. The main characters are John Lethbridge, a sailor; Richard Trevanion, a soldier; and Roger Trevanion, Richard's younger brother. The novel begins with the three men being shipwrecked off the coast of Spain. They are taken in by a Spanish family and are soon embroiled in the political and religious conflicts of the time. The Spanish Inquisition is in full swing, and the Englishmen find themselves in danger as Protestants in a Catholic country. As the Great Armada approaches, the Englishmen become involved in the war effort, fighting alongside the Spanish against the common enemy. They take part in several battles and skirmishes, and their bravery and skill earn them the respect of their Spanish allies.Throughout the novel, the three men also become involved in a love triangle with a Spanish woman named Dolores. Their relationships with her are complicated by the religious and political tensions of the time.""A Flame of Fire"" is a thrilling adventure story that also provides a fascinating glimpse into the history of the Great Armada and the religious conflicts of the time. Hocking's vivid descriptions of the battles and the Spanish landscape bring the story to life, and his characters are complex and engaging. This novel is a must-read for anyone interested in historical fiction or the history of Spain and England. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
