128,95 kr. a date with Rain is a collection of poetry and prose written to take you on a journey to witness the intrinsic and deeply profound relationship we have with nature. We are not alone and we often don't remember this when we feel like our fear and individuality have completely taken over any form of love and unity. I wrote this book with the intention of encouraging us to reignite that connection we have, not only with nature but with all beings. We often become so inundated by our minds, egos, and shadows, that we forget about the organic bond we all have to one another; physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, even creatively. I hope this book brings you as much presence with your consciousness as it brought me when I wrote it. Enjoy your date with Rain.

- The Fire Poems of New South Wales
248,95 kr. At the end of 2019, the state of New South Wales erupted into flames. Intense local bushfires joined fronts and the subsequent megafire threatened lives, communities, and dramatically challenged how Australians saw themselves and their nation. Confronted by his burning world, poet and resident of the Blue Mountains, Humphrey Hartney, captures the drama and emotion of this great tragedy. Catastrophic is a powerful poetic witness account that reveals exactly how flammable we are.

205,95 kr. We are all connected. Our emotions, our memories, our minds are all linked by a thread power known as the Nexus. All life can access this connection, but there are few who realize its existence, and even fewer who can use it to control those around them.Jim Ash is about to become one of the fewer. After a contract goes wrong, Jim plummets through the world, shattering into the dark plains of the Below. He should be dead, should be swallowed by the afterlife told in religious stories and myth, but he is very much alive, and he has one more contract. A contract sold by Death.Destroy what links me to the world of life. Free me from this prison.

138,95 kr.

208,95 kr. An inspiring story set in the time of the Great Depression, Bewilderment: A Novel of the Great Depression follows the story of a coal delivery man, Gabriel "Gabe" Goodfellow, who wants to lighten the hearts of the people in homes he visits. Poverty is felt everywhere and people are hopeless. So, he thinks that there can be some joy and inspiration by arranging for the carnival to visit the town. His intentions are pure and altruistic, but then he has to deal with family problems. Things get complicated when manipulative and greedy local politicians get involved. Will Gabe achieve his goal and put smiles on the faces of his townsfolk or will his project be arrested before it even becomes a reality? The prose is sprinkled with succinct and vivid descriptions of the city and some of the elements that readers can easily visualize. While the story is set in the 1930s, it is filled with realism and humanity and today's readers can easily relate to its message and the characters. Bewilderment is hugely inspiring and entertaining. 208,95 kr. When Don Gutteridge retired from academia in 1993, he intended to say my farewell by publishing a selection of the forty essays he had written over a long career. He gathered them together and gave them a title: The Myth Alive. However, other projects soon began competing for his time. He published two memoir novels in quick succession: Summer's Idyll (1993) and Winter's Descent (1995). Then as a last pedagogical hurrah, he wrote a small volume on teaching theory (Teaching English: 1999). Then it was back to novel writing with Bewilderment (2000) and finally fulltimework on the Marc Edwards mysteries (twelve titles). The Myth Alive was eventually forgotten. When he took it out for a belated look earlier this year, he found that the subject matter, though many years old, was still relevant today because it deals with questions of a literary/critical nature:how poems get made, the uses of history in literary works, the evolution of a Canadian mythology, the question of intention and so on. He trusts that they are as relevant today as when they were first written.

In a wonderful follow up to Summer's Idyll, the book that first introduced his readers to protagonist "Billy" or "Junior," this second work, Winter's Descent continues this lovely story and will certainly keep readers enthralled from beginning to end. 143,95 kr. On November 3, 2020, I had emergency heart surgery. As part of the healing process, I unwittingly intensified my writing poetry in gratitude to those who saved my life and supported me in the harrowing days which followed. In the hospital, I was deeply moved by the constant kindness of the healthcare professionals and my family members who helped me back to life. I saw in them a "kindness response" to life which I always knew existed but now appreciated as the core value of what it means to be a human being. This slim book mostly includes poems written in the wake of my brush with death at the age of 66, events of the last two years and a few pieces reflecting on previous experiences. I hope it adequately expresses my gratitude to those who took care of me in my hour of need and helps others see the need for kindness in everything we do in the hospital, on the street, and at home.
