- Germanys New Nazis or another Populist Party?
512,95 kr. Right-wing populism has been on the rise in Europe and elsewhere. Germany's foremost populist party is called Alternative for Germany (AfD). Founded in 2013 and entering Germany's federal parliament in 2017, the AfD increasingly moved towards right-wing extremism. Today, the party is Germany's most successful nationalistic party. Following the populist playbook, the AfD started off with a simple neoliberal and anti-Europe message, but soon moved towards the extreme right. By 2017 the AfD's ultra-nationalistic wing had successfully outmanoeuvred the party's moderate and neoliberal leader Frauke Petry. Written from the standpoint of openness, pluralism, liberalism, and democracy, this book examines the AfD's rise to fame, its successes, and the party's ideological links dating back to German Nazism of the 1930s. The author illuminates the party's ideological and institutional links to present-day Neo-Nazis; its close associations to the right-wing street movement Pegida; the recruitment of right-wing extremists and former Neo-Nazis into its parliamentarian ranks; its xenophobic, anti-Muslim, racist, and anti-Semitic ideologies; and its relationship to the neo-fascist Identity Movement.

- A Critical Biography of Arturo Barea - Explaining the Roots of the Spanish Civil War
2.048,95 kr. Arturo Barea (1897-1957) is often seen as merely a spontaneous writer with a passion against injustice. This biography is based on numerous interviews with people who knew Barea. It revisits Barea's writing qualities and deficiencies in the context of stimulating intersections of literature and politics, and of Spain and England.

- Lowenfeld'S World Technique
512,95 kr. Lowenfeld realized that Play was the medium through which children worked out their emotional conflicts. She recognized that it was a cognitive process which could be analyzed (in a non-Freudian way) to understand and deal with behavior problems and also perhaps help them to develop. She developed the then new concept of non-verbal communication, and methods and tools for using Play as therapy and as a therapeutic and analytical tool. This work follows her classic book Play in Childhood which was published in 1935.

838,95 kr. Pakistan at Seventy-Five investigates the country's multi-layered issues in the context of a post-colonial polity marked by diversity, heterogeneity, stratification and volatility. This wide-ranging discourse engages with diverse formal and informal actors as markers of identity, historical events and social conditions, as well as global geo-political and neo-colonial centreperiphery relations that shape narratives about the nation and the constructions of a sense of belonging. The editors and contributors utilise multi-faceted and multi-layered approaches, focusing on (1) identities, and questions of diversity and pluralism; (2) horizontal and vertical technologies and geographies of power related to questions of trust, legitimacy, participation, and governance; and (3) the distribution, deprivation and vulnerability of sociocultural, political, and human resources. Studying Pakistan has been subject to different approaches, including decolonial, indigenous, and feministperspectives. This volume draws out alternative epistemological and methodological viewpoints: the insideroutsider conundrum, centreperiphery asymmetries, hegemonic discourses, and practices within Pakistan's national/international academy. The chapter contributions are the outcome of a unique interdisciplinary research cooperation at Quaid-i-Azam University, focussing on early career researchers. Presenting a multiplicity of voices and trajectories, Pakistan at Seventy-Five provides new input to existing debates and directions for future scholarly endeavour.

638,95 kr. Investigating the construction of gender needs to begin from the days of the hunter-gatherer and the development of agriculture, about 10,000 years ago. Recent archaeological discovery and scientific research reveals the long-held assumptions regarding the roles males and females should play in society. Moving forward time-wise, a comparison is made between the lives lived by women in Ancient Greece, and the lives of warrior women known as Amazons who lived in lands to the East and matched men in strength and combat. The texts of the three great monotheistic religions of the Western world, Judaism, Christianity and Islam mainly depict women as being the helpers and supporters of men, with the primary function of bearing and caring for their children. In more recent times countless examples may be found of how children are conditioned to behave and dress in a certain way according to their sex. As discussion moves to the contemporary, novels and other media can be probed forinsight, Virginia Woolf's novel Orlando being particularly relevant. Philosophers throughout the centuries have had much to say about women, mainly about their inferiority, so the works of Kant, Hegel and Nietzsche, as well as modern thinkers such as Derrida, Lacan, Kristeva and Butler are highly relevant to the better understanding gender complexities. Research carried out by neuroscientists and behavioural scientists using recent techniques such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) suggests that there is little if any difference between male and female brains, and that most behavioural sex differences are socially constructed. The author brings together myriad arguments from history, sociology and science to provide tools for betting understanding the important difference between the terms sex and gender.

838,95 kr. For centuries, the Spanish state has proved to be an expert system for repressing political dissent and any threat that could jeopardize the maintenance of the status quo. It has done so using all the institutions and all the areas of power that were necessary, for the end has always justified the means. Carles Mundo, Catalan Minister of Justice, 2016-2017. There is no book in Spain that talks about lawfare. Nor is there a book that deals with the system of judicial repression of political dissidence deployed by the Franco regime. Nor is there a book that denounces the judicial system inherited from the dictatorial regime and that was later embodied in the 1978 Constitution. Lawfare (the combination of law and warfare) thus fills a void to the extent that it penetrates the authoritarian judicial system and highlights the democratic deficits of the Spanish judiciary. The politicization of justice began with the appointment, as president of the Constitutional Court, of a prominentmember of the People's Party (Partido Popular PP) in 2013. Thereon started a process of judicialization of politics via reform of the Organic Law of the Court Constitutional. The referendums of November 9, 2014 and October 1, 2017 entailed the criminalization of the Catalan independence movement and a drastic reduction in fundamental rights linked to the exercise of political choice. This was confirmed by the judgment handed down by the Supreme Court in 2019, culminating in a lawfare strategy that has led to the criminal conviction of two presidents of the Generalitat Artur Mas and Joaquim Torra and the exile of a third president, Carles Puigdemont. Lawfare is the first book to link in a broad way the thinking of German jurists of the Nazi period to the training of judges in Spain both up to and during the Franco regime, and beyond. Published in collaboration with the Department of International History, London School of Economics

- Borders, Tribes and a History Shared
2.078,95 kr. Saudi Arabia and Iraq have a shared history, as both friends and enemies at one and the same time, and their growth as modern nation-states must be understood in that joint context. This book establishes a new narrative and timeline for bilateral relations between the two countries, while examining the work of other Arab and Western scholars, in order to excavate the biases underlying so much previous work on this topic. In doing so, it proposes a new way of looking at state formation and boundaries in the Middle East, by showing how the interactions of regional neighbors left an indelible imprint on the domestic politics of one another. The two different visions for managing the border that Saudi Arabia and Iraq developed in the 1920s generated mistrust on both sides, leading to a gradual process of estrangement that lasted through the 1950s and beyond. Ibn Saud made strenuous efforts to preserve the socio-economic ties that united the communities of southern Iraq with the Najdand, in turn, those
