174,95 kr. About the BookIn 1912-1913 West Virginia, a coalfield strike was called to organize the miners. Young Valentina, angered over the ruthlessness of the coal operators and the death and destruction from the escalating violence, wanted to help create a change for her family and friends. She often defied her parents and worked to bring the nation's eyes to the travesty of a group of people whose voices were being overlooked and forgotten. But what could a 13-year-old girl do to try to create change?Valentina's story is fiction. However, it is based upon the events that occurred in what is recognized as the longest labor dispute in American history.About the AuthorKaty J. - Execution of Justice
206,95 kr. About the BookONE IN A MILLION: Execution of Justice, by Pat Shannan, Review by Steffan Bertsch, Oregon Attorney: Occasionally I have been asked to review books, but, rarely do I give an unsolicited assessment of one. I am making One in a Million by Pat Shannan the exception. It's a fact-laden piece of "fiction" about the IRS gone mad, and, while this might shock some, has set up mafia-style hit squads in the CID with the Commissioner's tacit approval! While most of you know full well that "government" agencies would never do such a thing, that's exactly what this book dares to reveal. Shannan sprinkles the enjoyable, fast-paced novel with many esoteric facts, long hidden from view of the sleeping public, such as those revealed in "The Franklin Cover-Up" about our beloved George Bush being involved in an adolescent sex ring while holding the office of VICE president. Any freedom-loving American will appreciate the veiled references to modern heroes such as Richie Mack and courtroom tyrants like Jack Tanner, and will also enjoy the express bolstering of Tupper [Saussy]'s and Irwin [Schiff]'s reputations as the writer explains how freedom was lost as fiat money invaded our borders. It's a spry read that is perhaps more fantasy than actual fiction, which might just get through to some sleepers, if ever it reaches their hands. "A masterpiece!" - Sharon Lee, who continues: Pat Shannan uses his storytelling talent to combine mystery, suspense, truth, and history into a great novel. One In A Million is a historical novel filled with suppressed truths and historical facts about the hoax of the tax system. It's a gripping story of family, courage, truth, tragedy, and violent retribution. One In A Million is much more than a crime story. It is a priceless education of our tax system and banking system. It is a compelling, convicting, and awesome story of the hypocrisy of the Internal Revenue Service. I recommend One In A Million to everyone! Courageous work from a talented writer. ONE IN A MILLION IS TRULY ONE IN A BILLION.

- Just a Little Longer Sweet Jesus
138,95 kr. About the BookBev Starr's mother and father were truly opposites, and her perhaps overly inquisitive mind often wondered how two people growing up in basically the same area, even though a couple of decades apart, could view life so differently. The unhappiness Starr witnessed at an early age sparked the urge to dig deeper into the physical, psychological, emotional, economic, and belief systems within their families. This became even more important to Starr as she suddenly found that she was to bring her first child into this world that she had so many questions about. She also realized that other than the Bible, just as preparation for becoming a wife, she was unaware of any real, down-to-earth-instructions available to prepare that scared 20-year-old for one of the most important opportunities she would ever be afforded.Bev Starr's original intent for The Other Side of the Bridge is to ensure that her children and grandchildren would have a better understanding regarding the history of their ancestors as well as a more personal feeling of having actually known them. This came from Starr's desire to know more than just the names of her ancestors, but to know what their interests, vocations, dreams might have been. Along with knowing more about them in a personal light, Starr also wanted to know what role they may have played in the development of our great nation. We often forget that the prosperity and the lives we live today didn't just happen, and Starr has always wondered if any of her great-great grandparents or their ancestors were actually a part of the history of the Civil War. Starr remembers what she has heard somewhere down the line, but has no factual documentation, which would mean so much to her as well as the ability to pass it on to my children.About the AuthorBev Starr loved to write as a young student. She was encouraged by her seventh grade teacher, Ms. Speight, whom she credits with encouraging her to pursue writing and to further her education. Bev was awarded a scholarship upon completing high school, but instead went to work to help provide for her family.

About the BookParents sometimes have their own agenda. As a private investigator, author Roy Gardner deals with these issues on a regular basis: parents going through a divorce, pretending to have their children's interests at heart but are really looking to cause drama for the ex-spouse. Collateral Damage serves as a warning to those parents going through a divorce where kids are involved, of what not to do. It explains from a personal and professional experience what the consequences can be in a nasty divorce, the irreversible damage that can be done to children. Gardner's message to those children is to make your own decisions once you become of age and not be the victims of misinformation, even if it's coming from a parent or family member.Gardner hopes his personal experience with this matter serves as an example of what can occur even when you do everything in your power to be an exemplary parent.About the AuthorRoy Gardner is a retired police officer of 33 years with Corpus Christi Police Department. 543,95 kr. About the BookThe author was living in a Senior Independent Living Center in Severna Park MD, when the Covid 19 pandemic struck. Everything was locked down. She was bored. What better time to write about "what was it like back when" as her family had been urging her to do.She begins her book by inviting you to a holiday dinner, speaking to the reader, personally. Her keen sense of humor is obvious as she tells of growing up in a small town in the hills of western Maryland. It was 1924. In 1941, when attending college, WWII was raging on two fronts. She wanted to help. She spent 2 summers working at a Women's Land Army Camp, harvesting crops. The army desperately needed Physical Therapists. Having the required biology credits, she accepted the Army's offer for training, at an army hospital and became a Physical Therapist. She describes working with soldiers with amputated legs and peripheral nerve injuries. They were not pitied but encouraged to find humor even in such situations. She writes of her excitement and wonder as she travels to Norway, the Passion Play in Germany, the Canyons and Parks in the west. There are funny tales of tent camping with her brother and sister-in-law. She drove her "little red sable" and followed them, using a CB to communicate, (calling M & M, this is Red Sable, over)In her book Esther Davis Lang has made history interesting, funny and easy to read.

162,95 kr. About the BookWhat is freedom? Does it exist or are our lives totally determined? Do other species of animals have freedom of a somewhat less extended form than humans? Can we lose our freedom? Can we be enslaved in a bondage of will? If so, can we be released from these bondages? How was Jesus an example of freedom and of a path to our liberation? So Be Free is a series of 24 essays that seeks to remind us, refresh us, and inform us on how our essential freedom comes to us as part of our consciousness of the Profound Reality we face. These essays use both secular and Christian vocabulary to express this Reality. Gene Wesley Marshall seeks to share a human reality that can be expressed with other religious vocabularies as well as with Christian and secular vocabularies. 182,95 kr. About the BookTimothy R. Pauley is an author who courageously delves into the depths of the human psyche through his evocative and introspective writings. Born and raised in the south hills of Pittsburgh, Pauley has always possessed a profound curiosity about the inner workings of the human mind and the intricacies of the human experience. It is this thirst for understanding that led him to embark on his writing journey, culminating in his groundbreaking debut book.Pauley's first book is a poignant collection of stream-of-consciousness poems that dare to explore the complexities of mental stability, spiritual wandering, and the sobering reality of suicidal ideation. Through raw and unfiltered verse, he intimately exposes his own struggles and triumphs, unafraid to confront the darker corners of the psyche. In this deeply personal work, Pauley's words serve as a vessel, enabling readers to navigate the labyrinthine maze of emotions and thoughts that afflict the human condition. Each poem is a window into his innermost thoughts and feelings, a cathartic release of the profound depths of his soul. His raw vulnerability and unflinching honesty create an atmosphere of authenticity that resonates with readers who have experienced their own battles with mental health.About the AuthorBeyond his literary endeavors, Timothy R. Pauley is a loving son, caring brother, and devoted godfather. His deep-rooted connections to his family have played an essential role in shaping his perspective on life and informing his creative expression. He offers a compassionate voice to those who have longed for a way to articulate the complexity of their own emotions and thoughts.
