    af R J Vitti
    142,95 kr.

Meet Bob, the grandson of Italian immigrants who arrived in New York through Ellis Island just before the turn of the the 20th century. He is the third child of Michael and Angelina and has seven siblings. Bob's family is considered by some to be poor working class. But that was never the way Bob saw himself. He only saw opportunity, excellence and potential. At a very young age, he believed he was a hero in the making. A hero without a cape, but a hero nonetheless. Eventually. His book chronicles the stories of his life. Bob reveals his humble beginnings, his various and interesting jobs as a kid, and some unsettling stories about being relentlessly bullied in middle school. He also shares some of his stories from his years in the Army. He writes about teaching golf and coaching high school and Special Olympics. The bottom line is, it's written to be an enjoyable collection of stories with a bit of insight into life in the 20th century. He started writing this book on New Year's Eve, 50 years earlier, his life kept him so busy that he never had the time or energy to go back to writing. So, there he sat, decades later, trying to finish his Great American Novel. Fifty years of work, kids, grandkids, foster kids, financial disaster, careers success and career failure, loyalty and betrayal, love found and love lost had transpired since the start of his book. All the stuff needed for the "Great American Novel".

    af Ariniko D O'Meara
    238,95 kr.

In 2010 Lansing, Michigan was in the midst of growing despair, rocked by the closing of multiple GM sites as well as the collapse of the housing market, many residents of this quaint "little big town" were feeling the effects of one of the worse recessions to hit this region. In an effort to counter some of the misconceptions generated during this timeframe, Ariniko O'Meara took on the task of showcasing the entire Lansing city. She determined that to change the perception of what this city was doing to rise above the recession, and all the people working behind the scenes to make Lansing a great urban city, she decided to walk every single city street, using her writing and skills as a photographer to document her walks. It took her a total of three years, covering 537 miles of walking to reach the goal of walking the entire city. Through her City Saunter project she discovered a city thriving in some aspects and falling short on others, but throughout the entire project she found the true #lovelansing spirit, as well as her own voice in sharing her hometown.

Recollections? Y'all want to talk about recollections? Why, I'm full to bustin' with recollections. I can recollect on the time my Great-Granddaddy was sold into slavery, bless his soul. Or the time my brother like to died in the Mighty Mississippi River. And child, the very day Martin Luther King died, I had three of my kinfolk right there, practically in throwin' distance of the Lorraine Motel. That's a powerful recollection there 'cause they saw it all! The stories I could tell...and I do tell too 'cause everybody knows I can't hold water. No secret is safe with me. I mean, I try and try to keep stuff to myself but words just kinda fall out of my mouth sometimes... And another thing, I have a mind like a steel trap! That, along with my loose lips are a pretty lethal combination. 'Least that's what people say about me. But I don't get mad as long as they say it to my face. To my credit, I did manage to go on a gossiping fast for a couple months. But, y'all, my head got so full I thought I was gonna have to get a CAT scan. Anyway, after I broke my fast I vowed to do better. Instead of talking so much, I started writing down my recollections. Mostly stuff about my monstrously big, happy family. Pretty soon, I had a whole volume of recollections to share. So, I decided to do what I do...tell it! Right neighborly, don't you think? I'm gonna tell it all 'cause y'all know I can't hold water. And, if people don't like it, they can just lump it 'cause they shouldn't have told me in the first place. After all, they didn't just meet me yesterday!

Most people recognize that the Bible is an esteemed book worthy of study. Christians believe it is the divinely inspired word of God. However, the average person seems intimidated by this awesome book and doesn't even know where to begin if they want to learn from the timeless principles outlined in the Holy Scriptures. Dive In was written in an effort to help demystify this supernatural text. Each book of the Bible is briefly summarized to give a general synopsis of the entire Bible in a quick overview. Additionally, the author goes verse by verse through the book of Philippians taking the reader on a practical journey to demonstrate how to "get something out of the Bible." Countless popular pressing questions are answered in the study such as: What does it look like every day as I seek to follow Christ? How can I stop worrying about my life? What is the secret to joy and contentment? How do I explain the Trinity? Are the people in my church truly saints? What should my attitude be when I face trials? Is it possible to choose an attitude of gratitude? How can I tell whether this person who is preaching in my church or on the television is a false prophet? These questions and a myriad of other concerns are addressed in the book. The actual Bible Study section would be ideal for Bible study groups or by individuals seeking to dive deeper into God's word and glean valuable guidance that will enhance their daily lives and strengthen their relationship with their heavenly Father! "The Book grows upon you: as you dive into its depths; you have a fuller perception of the infinity which remains to be explored. You are still sighing to enjoy more of that which is your bliss to taste." Charles Spurgeon

  • - of LIGHT
    af Jacob Oketch
    118,95 kr.

Jacob-the last born in his family- lost his mother when he was just 11 years old. His father died six years later. Left with no place to call home, 'Jack', as everyone calls him in the family, grew up in an uncertain environment living with one after another of his nine siblings for several years. A decade later, Jacob lost Patrick-another of his brothers with whom he had been living at the time-under mysterious circumstances involving police brutality. Destitute once again, Jack went to live with another brother. Four years later, and another blow: the untimely loss of his soft-spoken sister and counselor- Grace followed. His eldest sister Hellen had left the country to join her husband abroad and Grace was the remaining glue that held the family together. Devastated by these losses, Jacob would struggle for years to complete his undergraduate education at the University of Nairobi where he was pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature and Linguistics (English). He finally crossed that off his to do list in 2001. Thereafter he found a simple dwelling at the outskirts of Nairobi city where he lived in a room in the compound of a family who accepted him as he was. Even with these devastating experiences, Jacob managed to cross-off another to do-a master's degree in communication studies at the University of Nairobi in 2018- following another several years of struggle. In 2019, Jack experienced further devastation when he lost another brother Erick, who fell sick and within only 8 days, was gone. Jacob realized the time had come for him to choose to either live or die after more than a decade of maladaptive coping lifestyle. On the brink of desperation, Jacob set out on a journey of self-discovery. In his quest to understand the way the universe works, an overpowering feeling spawned nuggets of wisdom that he records in this collection of poetry. He set out to discover what brings hope and expectation of a better life for an ordinary person like him. Realizing that he had been groping in darkness, he comes to a point of illumination only after a long reflection of what it really means to live a meaningful and satisfying life. This work is a journey of discovering the essence of a fulfilling life. Away from his personal challenges, Jacob embarked on a spiritual literary journey, finding refuge in spiritual literature. It is out of this immersion that the muse to write a spiritually inclined book was seeded. The power of the written word transformed his perception of what the universe actually entails, unraveling for him the realization that life is basically a form of energy that is cultivated by vibration. This book is a journey of faith in the power of the source energy and should be read with a flexible disposition. It delves into the realm of the metaphysical. In this collection of poetry, Jacob conveys meaning by employing symbols and images, for the reader to decipher the meaning of the written word. The interpretation of this work offers divine inspiration with the sixth sense.Aphorisms and Poems of Light subscribes to the idea that as human beings we are more than just physical beings, endowed with meanings much deeper than the mundane that many have mistakenly viewed as the totality of the human experience. It is our hope that Jacob's journey to spiritual freedom will illuminate a path for you as much as it has done for him.

  • - Where There Is Love There Is A Way
    af Erica Goodstone Ph D
    193,95 kr.

Love transforms all and forgiveness is the key to lasting and eternal love. Where there is love there is a way. Aphrodite is a beautiful young woman with a natural psychic healing gift inherited from her mother, Cassandra. At birth Aphrodite had been sent away to be adopted by a loving American couple. Not knowing the truth about her origins, she lived with a deep and abiding sense of feeling unworthy and unloved. Her birth mother, Cassandra, had grown up on a beautiful Greek island in a prosperous family with three older, macho and abusive brothers. At 17 she met an Australian Greek sailor, fell passionately in love, enjoyed one night of ecstasy, and became pregnant. Her favorite brother Alexei beat her up and the whole family threw her out of the house. She returned to the park where she had met the sailor. But this time she encountered Dietrich, a Swedish businessman. Thinking she was a street hooker, he raped, kidnapped and prostituted her. Eventually, 25 years later, the entire family would finally be reunited, each one having healed their capacity to love. And finally, Aphrodite spoke with tears streaming down her face: "And my purpose has been to love, to learn how to love and trust and surrender to life as it is, letting go of all expectations. The pain and sorrow has been intense, yet I have enjoyed many close friendships, many deep healings and I have become a healer, helping men and women heal through love. Now, finally, today, standing here proudly facing both of my beloved birth parents, at last, I am healing. I know what love feels like.... I have spent all these years of my life seeking love and approval outside myself, in the poor lost souls of the men who crossed my path and in the nurturing kindness of my women friends. Mother and father, I have taught so many men and women how to heal their bodies, heal their hearts and minds, and heal their relationships through love. Yet I was unable to do that for myself until now, at this very moment."

Throughout the Bible God commands His people to hear His voice. Signifying it is not so important that we see, but that we hear and understand.Adam would not have known what to name the animals without knowing how to hear God's voice.Abraham would not have known in which direction to go if he had not heard God's voice.Moses would not have known what message to give the children of Israel if he had not known how to hear God's voice.Jesus said, ... and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.Paul said in Ephesians 2:20, And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone. What did they all have in common? They all heard the voice of God and were obedient unto Him.At the end of each letter to the seven churches in Revelation chaptes 2 and 3, the angel said, He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. It is was that important for the Moses, the prophets, the Apostles, and Jesus Christ; stands to reason it is just as important for us today. Not one person in a body, but the whole body. That is why God commanded Moses to bring the children of Israel to the base of Mt. Sinai; to hear His voice for themselves. If we are not careful, we will turn a deaf ear to Him, just as the children of Israel did, and loose our inheritance. In this book you will find simple exercises to teach you how to hear the voice of God; as well as testimonies of the patriarchs who heard God and obeyed.
