My little bus, my little bus. It takes all of us to and from our schools so we can all learn the golden rules. This book is a happy product of my own imagination. It was formed from the inspiration and joy I experienced as a school bus driver. Driving a school bus has been a wonderful experience for me, and this book hopefully shares, promotes, and encourages others to become school bus drivers. Writing this book, I wanted to celebrate the several wonderful relationships I developed with both parents and their students as they entrusted their driver with safe bus transportation from their homes, learning centers, and back again. The rhymes, poems, and storybook songs in this book were created during downtime, to entertain the students and give them attention, usually while waiting on school parking lots. To begin each day, we arrive early to school on our bus schedule, the school bus parks, we wait and say again our good mornings. The students rode their school bus into school that day, correctly, with safety in mind, and heeded the bus driver's warnings. Then she finally appears in all her glory. The elementary school's principal. "We are here!" Like the driver, she is respected, admired, and revered by the students, and they hold her dear. It's now time to go, so off the bus they go inside the school. The driver will miss them and tells each student as they exit to have a good day, watching as they get smaller and smaller in his rearview mirror until they disappear. He is sad but soon will be glad as he knows it will be evening soon, and the students will be back again too. The bus mirrors remind him, objects in the mirror are closer than they appear.

What a privilege it is to welcome a grandchild! During the pandemic, we received a double blessing in 2020--a granddaughter and a grandson. Welcome, Sonshine is a celebration of God's divine gifts: children. There is a big celebration every time a child is born, and every arrival is a "big to-do" in heaven and on earth! Welcome, Sonshine reinforces that God created each child with love and He has a plan for his or her life. Children are reminded how special they are and how much they are loved.I'm sure you have noticed that Sonshine is misspelled; the spelling is intentional. Sonshine represents the light of the world--Jesus, the Son of God. This glow comes from heaven and it is an everlasting light that will never end.

Fiction cycles to lyrical poetry, to stanza poetry entries, to the picking up of fiction again but much to all too true realism in the last few chapters. Excellence of a former juvenile, readers will come to find in an older Chance who has the ambivalent makeup of the last chapter to end the first fictional account. All that has changed is that he is more entrusted with a feel of confidence which he names the archive group to discourse. Readers can play with the rereading, with affirmation of geometry, with plot and friendships thanks to these very chilling reasons to rethink discourse.

Character is doing what is right when no one else is looking.Keep your fears to yourself, but share your courage with others.Never put the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket.Quantity is what you count; quality is what you count on.Very few burdens are heavy if everyone lifts. These are just a few of the quotations that I have included in this book. It is a culmination of over four decades of gathering quotes and sayings, noticing church and marquee signs and bumper stickers and, most recently, researching on the Internet. In the preface for this book, I went through and listed quotes that meant a lot to me, but as I look back, I realize that they all mean something to me.I hope that you can use them for motivation, reflection, and inspiration.

A secret preview into the treacherous journey of a man thrown from a successful life in Silicon Valley into the dark asphyxiating prison of San Quentin, with murders, serial killers, rats, and COVID around every corner. This true story is told by an inmate who was inside, living and breathing in the system of incarceration for nearly two years. He paints a masterpiece of detail by challenging the stigma that prisoners are less than people, that law enforcement is superior, and that the system of incarceration in the United States is still functioning. You will join him in the cell while he recounts hunger strikes, malnutrition, panic, and pandemonium, by weaving comedic banter with a stoic sense of realism. This is a captivating tale of how sick and dying men, caused by the nationally publicized disaster of thirty deaths in a short period in the prison, stitched together the remnants of their shattered dignity and formed a brotherhood to withstand all odds; it paints the solo journey of a man's struggle through addiction, loss, corruption, oppression, racism, and fear. You won't put down this enthralling and uttering engrossing saga of survival, a triumphant testament to the endurance of the human spirit, loyalty, respect, and the fallacy of rehabilitation while incarcerated.

A faint cry over howling winds wakes me at 2:00 a.m. Boots, coat, and hat on, I grab my lantern and head out in a blizzard to the barn to mount my horse and search for the source of the cry: a newborn calf under a fresh blanket of snow. The cowboy's way of life embraces hard work, trust, and respect in the service of a greater purpose: community service, stewardship, and faith. It's called riding for the brand. The pay is modest; the toll on the body hard and the reward great. Hours on a horse, tending fences under wide-open sky as a hawk circles overhead, calves born under starry nights that finish with conversation around a campfire, the ole cook singing while making grub-- this is my "office." I have been asked many times why we cowboys ride for our money and rope for short pay. I can't imagine any other way.My photos are a testament to the cowboy life, defined by hard work in God's glorious country. Gold- and blue-hour light convey that glory and the long hours. This is who we are. Our handshake is a promise, our word is all you need, and living for the greater good is our way of life.

This book is written to lessen the fears of children about the dark. Darkness often is intimidating to almost all children. A simple object can transform itself into a great monster in the dark. Some adults will use the channel of the dark to scare children and coerce them to be submissive to what the adult deems to be favorable. In this book, a father took his son to the park. The son was having fun and didn't want to leave. His father made up a story about monsters being in the park after dark. The son, who believed the father, was naturally afraid and wanted to go back home. On his way home, he kept looking back at all the structures in the environment. In his little imaginative mind, he kept looking at monsters all the way. When he got home, he told his grandmother about his experience. His grandmother told him that there was no such thing as monsters and that they were invented. He believed his grandmother and was quite relieved. The next time his father took him to the park and brought the monster story, he bluntly told his father that his grandma said monsters were invented and do not exist.

People generally don't read a poem just once. When I run across a poem I like, I may read it dozens and dozens of times and will probably continue to read my favorites until I've moved on to that big drill field in the sky. Musings... is provided in print by Page Publications and will be on Amazon, Kindle, and Barnes and Noble and available for ordering in most book outlets. It contains poems, a lot of pictures, and some short stories from my time as a US Army Drill Sergeant, two tours in Vietnam and later. As with everything I write, net income from the sale of my books is donated equally between Shriners Hospital for Children and St. Jude's Children's Hospital. If you don't have a favorite charity, please consider these two. Everyone needs to share good fortune with less fortunate people, and children are an excellent choice! The final part of Musings... is something that I wrote for our son when he went off to college. I was trying to provide him with something that fit somewhere in the hidden and mysterious space between Murphy's Law and Moses and The Ten Commandments. It's called McCoy's Prescription. You can contact me anytime at edmccoy01@hotmail.com. Look for my upcoming children's book, Perry's Little Vessel, due out in the fall of 2023.Enjoy Musings...! Many times!
